Breed: LEICESTER LONGWOOL

Leicester Longwool

Directly descended from the Dishley Leicester, developed by Robert Bakewell in the eighteenth century. This is a large longwool sheep with a slightly purled staple and a high yield of wool.

Fleece and products

Both Black and White Leicester Longwools produce fine, lustrous, fleece. The yarn is versatile and can be woven into filigree fabric or heavy, silky rugs or knitted into both very fine and chunky garments.
