Breed: TEESWATER

Teeswater

One of the oldest of the longwool breeds, the Teeswaterwas developed in the Tees Valley area of the Northern Pennines . Historically, it was widely used to cross with hill ewes to produce the Masham. A polled breed, the head has a broad muzzle and exhibits dark brown or balck markings around the nose, ears and mouth.

Fleece and products

The fleece is long and fine with a slight lustre and slight curl. Teeswater yarn may be woven into very delicate fabrics or into throws and rugs or spun into luxury knitting yarns.
